At YMCA Camp Potawotami, we focus on the ABCs of Camping - working to increase camper's sense of accomplishment and belonging while they learn about positive character traits and values. Our tools are well-trained staff, carefully planned programs and safe, clean facilities.Campers gain a sense of accomplishment by trying activities and developing new skills - for many campers, being away from home for a week is an accomplishment in itself! Making new friends and being a good friend in return helps campers gain a sense of belonging. Each person is a valued part of the YMCA Camp Potawotami community.We emphasize character traits and values in many ways during the week. YMCA Camp Potawotami places an emphasis on learning, growing and doing your best. The character traits we focus on are Honesty, Caring, Respect, Responsibility and Faith. Our unique Wampum Bead program encourages campers to choose a character trait to work on during camp and throughout the entire year.

Mini Camp

Mini Camp (ages 6-8)
This is a camper's first step into an overnight experience, with a two-night, three-day introduction to camp. We provide a safe, comfortable and fun program for our youngest overnight campers. Our staff guides campers through the week with a caring approach and individual attention. Our counselors help younger campers learn new skills and build self-confidence. This fun program, loaded with traditional camp activities, prepares your child for a full week of camp in the future. Love horses? Our one-of-a-kind Ranch Camp teaches campers how to care for the horses as if they were their own! Ranch Campers learn grooming, feeding, tacking and overall horse care, plus a daily riding lesson or trail rides with a Camp Potawotami CHA-certified instructor. FAME Camp

FAME Camp (ages 8-14) Fine Arts & Music Education
FAME Camp's mission is to bring multi-cultural arts to all children. Master FAME teachers mentor campers to help them reach the peak of their creativity. Through these programs we challenge the budding artist in everyone through innovative activities that are both fun and exciting in an atmosphere of nurturing acceptance. Teen Adventure & Leadership Camps
Teen Adventure Camp (ages 14-16)Our Teen Adventure Camp (Voyagers) is packed with action and wonderful opportunities to make new friends and take on the world with a new adventure each day. Voyagers will get a chance to go to Van Buren State Park in Michigan for an overnight camping trip. Camping under the stars, campfires and group bonding are sure to make this summer one of the best experiences of a lifetime! Available for all session dates.2012 Session Options:Session 1: June 24-29Session 2: July 8-13Session 3: July 15-20Session 4: July 29-August 32012 Program Rate: $569________________________________Teen Leadership Camp (Entering Grade 11)This two-week Teen Leadership Camp (Clippers) program is for teens interested in becoming leaders in their school, community and at camp. We include lessons in child development and provide hands-on leadership opportunities. Clippers learn how to become successful, motivated leaders. Training includes teaching techniques, career development and interviewing skills. Clippers spend their last week assisting with a cabin group of younger campers. (All Clippers go home on Saturdays at regular camp check-out time and return on Sundays.)2012 Session Date: July 8-202012 Program Rate: $669________________________________Counselor-in-Training Program (Entering Grade 12)The CIT program is designed for teens who desire to be counselors at YMCA Camp Potawotami. This three-week volunteer program is a hands-on introduction to life as a counselor and allows participants to go through training and then assist counselors in programming for campers. CIT applicants must apply with the Summer Camp Program Director by February 28, 2012 with a letter of introduction/interest.

YMCA Camp Potawotami has large athletic fields for soccer, softball and other field sports, basketball courts, Gaga Pits, a large waterfront activity area, a sand volleyball court, archery and riflery ranges, low and high ropes courses and an outdoor climbing wall. Campers live in cabins that are clean and well maintained, with screened windows, built-in bunks and electricity, flush toilets and showers (Teen Adventure Camp and Leaders-in-Training stay in seasonal cabins amenities are nearby in a central bathhouse). Everything is provided to make campers comfortable and happy in a beautiful, scenic setting.

Bring-A-Buddy

Bring-A-Buddy Program
Our greatest compliment at YMCA Camp Potawotami is the referral of new campers by members of our Camp Family who have had positive experiences with us. With our Bring-a-Buddy Program you can spread the word and help pay your way to camp this summer!How Does It Work? For every friend who is a new camper who attends camp for one session this summer, you earn a $50 tuition credit. Recruit 2 friends as new campers = $100 tuition credit, 3 friends = $150 credit, and so on.Who Can Participate? All camper families - returning and new - attending camp for a session in Summer 2012 are eligible to participate. I have already paid for camp in full. Can I still participate in this program? Yes! As your recruited campers enroll, your account will be credited. The charges will be credited back to your credit card/check payments will be refunded, after your Buddy attends camp. Who Can We Recruit? Recruited campers must be brand new to YMCA Camp Potawotami, and may not be siblings or living in the same household as the recruiting camper. A Buddy can only be claimed by one camper, Buddy Referral Emails are processed in the order that they are received.How Many Tuition Credits Can Be Earned and Applied? Campers are required to pay the regular deposit at the time of enrollment. There is no limit to the number of tuition credits that can be earned. Credits remaining beyond the balance due can be applied to another session of camp in 2012, or can be gifted to a sibling or another camper attending in 2012. Unused credits do not rollover to another year, have no cash value, and cannot be refunded.How Do I Participate? 1. Enroll as a camper for a Summer 2012 session and pay the deposit. 2. Start recruiting! 3. E-mail us your name, your campers name and your recruited Buddy's name at camp_fwymca.org with the subject line: BUDDY REFERRAL. 4. Your campers account will be credited after the new recruited camper registers and pays their deposit. Recruitment tuition credits are not applied when recruited camper fails to register, pay, or attend camp. All regular payment and cancellation policies apply.

We offer your students hands-on classes that complement your curriculum based on the Indiana State Standards for Education. Our program balances academics, outdoor skills and recreation so your students can learn and enjoy outdoor activities together. The time at camp allows students to see each other in a different setting that promotes and encourages cooperation, teamwork, and understanding of ones own abilities and potential. Teachers have the opportunity to evaluate students' strengths and areas where improvements can be made through observation in a non-graded learning experience. YMCA Camp Potawotami Adventure Education Program fosters personal growth and development using adventure-based activities. Participants are encouraged to try new experiences leading to group and personal growth. Opportunities for reflective processing throughout the experiences, can offer insightful learning that can be applied to everyday life. We follow all currently acceptable safety practices to promote a positive experience for all we serve. An approach known as Challenge by Choice allows participants to decide to what extent and to what capacity they will participate in the activities offered.Adventure Education Program Goals: • Enhance self-esteem and self-confidence• Generate willingness to take calculated risks.• Experience solving problems in a collaborative manner.• Improve group cohesion, communication and teamwork.• Develop higher levels of interpersonal trust

Challenge Programs

Challenge Programs
Programs can range from a few hours to multi-day events depending on your group needs, and can be tailored for a large variety of clients. From high school and college students to corporate and sport teams, from church to military groups and more. Outdoor Challenge Course ProgramsThe programs are conducted on site at YMCA Camp Potawotami using our top-notch climbing tower, low and high ropes courses. Activities might include belaying, climbing, rappelling and on-the-ground problem-solving initiatives.Indoor Challenge ProgramsDuring times of inclement weather, indoor programming is available at YMCA Camp Potawotami for on-the-ground teambuilding programs. These programs consist of a series of warm-up activities, games, collaborative group initiatives, and problem solving. There are no indoor facilities for rock climbing or the low and high ropes challenge courses at this time.

Our YMCA Christian Leadership Conference is held at YMCA Camp Potawotami. It is a great event for all to learn how to increase the Christian mission at your branch and camp programs.
